Gender champions

With reference to the initiative promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on the model of the one promoted by the UN “International gender champions”, this Embassy has adopted the following measures to promote gender equality at an internal organizational level and in its external projection:

  • Increase in the presence of women in the workforce (managerial, tenured and contract staff) reaching 68% of the total.
  • To reconcile professional and private life, meetings do not last beyond 6.00 pm and work commitments are avoided on weekends and holidays, except for justified and non-deferrable needs.
  • The employees’ family needs in organizing holidays, expectations and shifts are taken into due consideration and planning is carried out as far in advance as possible.
  • We ensure or encourage female representation in the committees of initiatives and events organized or promoted by the Italian Embassy and System, promoting the composition of forums and panels in which female participation is actively promoted.
  • We promote equal opportunities at all levels, also by including the development of collaborations and twinnings between Bulgarian and Italian associations and by participating in national and international initiatives for the promotion of equal opportunities and the dissemination of good Italian practices.
