The Italian Ambassador to Bulgaria, Giuseppina Zarra, went on a mission to Svishtov and Russe, in the Danubian area of Bulgaria.
In Svishtov, the Ambassador visited the Svilosa plant, the only factory for the production of cellulose throughout the Balkan area, which exports 10% to Italy, Europe’s leading country for the production of cellulose products with over 40% of the total European market.
In Russe, at the MBM Metalwork plant and together with Confindustria Bulgaria and Confindustria Est Europa, a coordination meeting was held during which the Ambassador met representatives of Italian companies present in the area, including in particular D.C. Tec, Inntech, IBG Motors LTD, SGM Plastics, Faac Bulgaria, Transis and Arev Premier, deepening the possibilities of further development of commercial cooperation and the main issues present in the territory.
At Russe, the Ambassador, accompanied by the President of Confindustria Bulgaria Roberto Santorelli and the President of Confindustria Est Europa Maria Luisa Meroni, met Mayor Pencho Milkov, which examined the main issues relating to the region, including the project for the construction of a third bridge over the Danube, the opportunities for the development of intermodal transport, the support of local authorities to Italian investors and the possibility of setting up joint specialised training courses to cope with the difficulty of finding qualified workers on the spot by companies. During the visit, the Ambassador also met the mayor of Svishtov, Gencho Genchev, with whom she deepened the issues related to the connectivity of transport and road infrastructure.
During the mission, the Ambassador Zarra also visited the Academy of Economics Dimitar A. Tsenov and met the Rector, Prof. Mariana Bozhinova, with whom the opportunities for cooperation between the Bulgarian Academy and the Italian university system were explored.
