The “Active Young Citizens for Sustainable Development in CEI and AII Areas” initiative, born from a joint collaboration between the Central European Initiative and the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative and co-financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is intended to promote the activism and participation of the younger generations, rewarding the best project initiatives presented by high schools of CEI and / or IAI member countries, and inspired by the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the realization of its 17 sustainable development goals.
The initiative offers concrete implementation to one of the priorities of the Italian CEI Presidency of 2019, also contained in the Trieste Declaration adopted on 12 June 2019 by the CEI Foreign Ministers, which called for the adoption of an “Agenda for young people” and the implementation of initiatives dedicated to their active involvement in regional cooperation.
The general objective of the initiative is to raise awareness among high school students of CEI and AII countries on the United Nations 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a learning process and participation in this call.
The call aims to achieve the following specific objectives:
· Encourage understanding of the principles and structure of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and its SDGs.
· Promote the role of young and active citizens, as key actors for achieving the SDGs in the CEI and AII areas.
· Stimulate the development of community-based and “SDG-proof” project ideas through participation in the call.
