Italy for PreCOP26: submission of applications to participate in “Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition”, the meeting reserved for young people from all over the world, is open, Milan from 28 to 30 September 2021

From 1 February to 1 March, you can submit an application to participate in “Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition”, the first meeting reserved for young people from all over the world, which will be held in Milan from 28 to 30 September 2021.

The invitation to participate is addressed to the new generation of climate action leaders, aged 15 to 29, already active in a group, association or company, so as to offer them the opportunity to meet the representatives of the governments present in Milan, the same ones that will participate in the 26th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC, to be held in Glasgow in November.

In the application form, you will also be asked to illustrate the activities already carried out in the context of climate action and sustainable development.

“The future of the planet – affirms the Minister of the Environment Sergio Costa – is a challenge that mainly concerns young people, who in recent years have been standard-bearers in the battle to fight global warming and for environmental sustainability. From them came the strongest and most constructive incentive for the world ruling class. We intend to give them a voice, prominence and visibility in view of the climate conference at the end of the year. We believe it is fundamental that the choices concerning tomorrow are shared, even indicated, by those who will have to live in tomorrow and will be responsible for the planet of tomorrow”.

Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition is the result of a long preparatory process that put the nine virtual events of the Youth4ClimateLive Series to good use, the progress of the negotiation process within the UNFCCC, as well as the results that emerged from the main meetings between young people.

For each of the 197 countries, which are part of the UNFCCC, two participants will be selected. Around 400 young people are expected to attend, in compliance with equitable gender representation, geographical balance and social inclusion.

The first two days of Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition will be dedicated to thematic working groups, while the third day will see a direct discussion between the young delegates and the ministers participating in the preparatory conference to be held in the following two days, also in Milan.

The results of the meeting between the young leaders will be collected in a final Declaration, which will be illustrated and discussed at the Preparatory Conference and therefore incorporated in the process leading to the Conference of the Parties in Glasgow.
