Marcello Apicella, Italian Ambassador to Sofia<\/strong><\/p>\n

Born in Naples on 10 June 1964, he graduated in Law at the University of Naples in 1990. On 3 July 1995, he was appointed as a Volunteer in the diplomatic career.<\/p>\n

After an initial assignment at the Ministry’s General Directorate for Emigration and Social Affairs, he became Consul in Split in 1999.<\/p>\n

In 2003, he was appointed Consul at the Consulate General of Italy in Paris.<\/p>\n

n 2007, he returned to the Farnesina to take up service at the Directorate General for Personnel.<\/p>\n

In 2010, he was First Counsellor for Emigration and Social Affairs at the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires, and subsequently held the post of Minister Counsellor at the same Embassy.<\/p>\n

In 2015, he was appointed Ambassador of Italy in Panama, with accreditation also in Basseterre (St. Kitts and Nevis), Port au Prince (Haiti), Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) and Saint John’s (Antigua and Barbuda).<\/p>\n

Since 2019, he has been serving at the Council of State as Diplomatic Adviser to the President.<\/p>\n

In 2025, he was appointed Italian Ambassador to the Republic of Bulgaria.<\/p>\n
