SPID

From 31 December 2023, to access the consular services portal “Fast It” you must use the credentials SPID (Public Digital Identity System).

SPID, the Public Digital Identity System, is the solution that allows you to access the online services of the Public Administration and its members with a single Digital Identity (username and password) that can be used by computers, tablets and smartphones.

Use of SPID is free.

Even requesting SPID is free, but some forms of recognition by operators may be charged.

SPID is simple: health bookings, school enrolments, access to the public wi-fi network, business practices, etc. with a single password.

SPID is secure: The SPID system ensures the full protection of your personal data, no profiling is allowed; your privacy is guaranteed.

SPID is fast: you can quickly access online services of public administration and private parties wherever you are and from any device.

Request SPID

To apply for and obtain your SPID credentials, the Public Digital Identity System, you must be of legal age.

You will need:

an e-mail address, the phone number of the mobile phone that normally uses (even foreign) a valid Italian ID (one between: ID card, passport, driver’s license). During the registration it may be necessary to photograph them and attach them to the form that will compile the tax code (in the absence of tax code, it is possible to request it from the consular office. It will be authentic the sheet of the Revenue Agency vidimate from the consular office)

What to do to get SPID

Choose one of the Identity providers ( https://www.spid.gov.it/richiedi-spid ) and register on their site. The registration consists of 3 steps:

Enter your personal data Create your SPID credentials by choosing from: in person / online / via CIE, CNS, passport or digital signature.

The timing of digital identity release depends on the individual Identity Providers.

How to choose between different Identity Providers

Identity Providers provide different ways of registering for free or for a fee, and their SPID have different levels of security.

The table below ( https://www.spid.gov.it/richiedi-spid ) provides an up-to-date picture of the situation. In particular, it is advisable to focus on the following parameters.

Choose the most convenient mode of recognition (in person, via Electronic Identity Card (CIE)*, National Service Card (CNS), Biometric Passport, Digital Signature or Webcam). Choose based on the SPID security level you need; If you are already a customer of one of the Identity Providers, you may have a simplified registration flow; If you are an Italian citizen resident abroad, pay attention to those who offer the service abroad: choose the Identity Provider that shows the icon “World” or “EU”. Remember that even using the CIE, CNS, biometric passport and digital signature you can get SPID remotely (remotely). Visit the sites of the different operators to check the conditions of release and choose the most useful one for you.
