Inaugurated today in Sofia the retrospective exhibition “Alzek Misheff, Acqui-Milano-Sofia”

Ambassador Giuseppina Zarra, the Director of the Italian Institute of Culture Dr Verena Vittur, and the Director of the National Gallery Yara Bubnova, have today inaugurated the retrospective exhibition “Alzek Misheff, Acqui-Milano-Sofia” (24.09. – 21.11. 2021), to celebrate the 80th birthday of the great artist Alzek Misheff, Bulgarian by birth and Italian by adoption. The painter took part in the opening in video link from his home in Italy.

Alzek Misheff, a legend among artists in Bulgaria, left his homeland in the early 1970s and moved to Milan. It begins to have remarkable international success and in 1976 he is included in the book ‘Europe – America – the different avant-garde’ of Achille Bonito Oliva representing the 30 European artists and the 30 most influential Americans. He performed in various cities around the world and exhibited in several editions of the Venice Biennale. Painter, conceptual artist, performer, experimenter, avant-garde, musician, reader…

In this exhibition Alzek Misheff proposes his creative flight, his avant-garde spirit and his eclectic artistic skills.

The exhibition was organized by the National Gallery, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Sofia and the Doma Art Foundation presents the exhibition “ALZEK MISHEFF Acqui – Milan – Sofia”.
