SHAPE AND LIGHT: The sign of a continuous architecture

On the occasion of the Italian Design Day 2021, the Embassy of Italy in Bulgaria and the Italian Cultural Institute of Sofia present the photographic exhibition of Camilla Borghese.

Her works propose a reflection on the continuity of the more properly classical architectural lines that cross a timeline long centuries, changing and renewing itself in a continuous rebirth thanks to the sign of great authors who have been able to collect the legacy of their predecessors reworking and rethinking it in the highest and fanciful ways.

These great architectures have been an inspiration over the centuries and have merged themselves with the culture of fashion and furniture, with design in the mechanical industry and in the architectural field, in a dialogue intended to produce always new ideas.

As the great architect Louis Khan argued, “The structure creates light. A column next to a column brings light in the interval: shadow and light, shadow and light, shadow and light”.

Every form is generative of its own light that makes its way into a perennial dialogue with the movement of the sun in the passing of time. All we can do is feel the pleasure of listening to him.

The exhibition, printed on large panels displayed next to the entrance of the Italian Institute of Sofia, overlooks a pedestrian street and can be visited freely.

From 8 July to 21 August, on the outer side of the Residence of the Embassy of Italy, next to the Italian Institute of Culture, ul. Parizh, 2b.
