OPENING HOURS OF THE CONSULAR SECTION
The CONSULAR DESK is open from Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 12.00, Tuesday and Thursday from 15 to 16 (only for document collection).
The consular office receives the public during the above hours only by appointment (to be made by email consolare.sofia@esteri.it) or for situations of proven urgency/emergency. Accompanying persons are only allowed in cases of real need. Visitors must wear a protective mask and have their body temperature measured.
Please carefully consult the Embassy website and the COVID-19 emergency dedicated page before calling the Embassy offices to request information about the measures in force in Bulgaria and Italy.

• For information on consulate services, before calling, please visit the dedicated web page. In any case, it is preferable writing an e-mail to consolare.sofia@esteri.it, rather than calling.
• If you have sent a request for a service, we recommend you to wait for the processing of the request, after which you will be contacted by this Embassy.
Outside of this time frame, the following EMERGENCY numbers are active only for reporting serious and proven emergency situations that require immediate and non-deferrable interventions (such as: accidents, arrests, serious medical problems, natural disasters, serious family situations):

From 22.00 to 8.00 it is possible to contact the local emergency number 112 (with which it is possible to communicate as well as in Bulgarian also in English, French and German) or the official on duty of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation at the number +390636912666.
EMISSION OF THE EMERGENCY TRAVEL DOCUMENT – ETD
In case of theft or loss of documents, the Embassy can issue a temporary travel document (ETD - Emergency Travel Document) valid only for the return to Italy or the country of residence. In order to obtain the document, the citizen will have to visit the Embassy, from Monday to Friday from 9 to 11.30. On weekends and public holidays, it will be possible to issue ETDs only in cases of proven emergency (accidents, arrests, serious medical problems, natural disasters, serious family situations). Therefore, we kindly advise all citizens travelling to Bulgaria to acquire two different travel documents, that will be kept separately (i.e. ID to bring with you and passport that will be kept in a safe place).
